Tooth Removal

Properly planned and performed tooth removal in your veterinary hospital:

Tooth removals or "extractions" are commonly performed on canine and feline patients for various reasons when the tooth and/or its supportive structures are too diseased to restore or maintain in the long term. Some common reasons to remove teeth include periodontal disease, fractured teeth, tooth resorption, dead teeth, malformed teeth, retained baby teeth, impingement, and many others.

Tooth removal can be a challenging aspect of veterinary dentistry. Broken roots, excessive bleeding, poor surgical site exposure, working in the face of infection, and achieving proper post-surgical closure are all common conditions requiring special veterinary training to manage successfully.

Please note: By law, in the state of Florida, only Florida-licensed veterinarians can perform dental extractions and many other dental treatments and surgeries. To learn more about practicing dentistry within the boundaries of the law, visit The American Veterinary Medical Association and Florida Statutes websites.

Dr. Klarsfeld is available for consultation to help you diagnose dental disease, determine if tooth removal is indicated, and determine which surgical technique should be used.

Dr. Klarsfeld readily accepts calls and e-mails from veterinarians and pet owners at (954) 471-4202 and mobiledentalvet@gmail.com.
